Gulf of Aden Transit Times Update

24/11/2008
AP Moller-Maersk has announced that it will update its policy for vessels entering the Gulf of Aden due to the recent hijackings by the Somali pirates which seized a Saudi Arabian tanker and then demanded USD 25 million in return for its release.

The recent update will mainly affect its strong tanker vessels which enter the Gulf of Aden and off the coast of East Africa. The company will be seeking an alternative route south of the Cape of Good Hope and East of Madagascar to ensure the safety and security of its tankers.
Genesis will keep all customers informed where this change affects transit times through the region.
