TSA Regulation Update

17/02/2009
Following changes to the Transportation Security Administrations (TSA) regulations which took effect from February 3rd, forwarders are now required...

To receive and retain a one time authorisation letter from all shippers. Without this consent they are not permitted by the TSA to collect or ship air freight consignments. Companies may continue to provide individual authorisation to screen their cargo by signing each individual Shipper’s Letter of Instruction (SLI) until a blanket letter has been received.

Further to this forwarders are instructed by the TSA that all Indirect Air Carriers (IAC) approved by the TSA are not permitted to disclose the flight number of the aircraft to shippers until after departure of the flight or, in the case of transhipments the final sector.

As an approved IAC, Genesis will of course continue to provide their customers with other commercial information relating to shipments such as air waybill numbers, airline name and date of flight.

Additional screening and security costs will be incurred and Genesis will charge USD 0.15 per kilo weight, minimum USD 15.00.

Please contact your local USA Genesis Forwarding Services office to receive an example authorisation letter which needs to be signed and returned on your headed paper.

If you require any further information please contact your local Genesis office
